Fashion Merchandiser Re-Skilling for Employment (FashiON) Programme - Application Form Programme Details

Aim of the Programme: To provide jobseekers with skills to become assistant merchandiser in the textile and garments industry.

Job of Assistant Merchandiser: Assistant merchandisers see through the whole garment process from development, fabrications, sample orders, mass production to shipment. They work with all groups of people like factory supervisors, purchasers, suppliers, buyers from local & overseas and fabric mills.

Pre-requisites: “O” level qualification with pass in English and Mathematics OR NTC 3 in office skills.Other areas such as:

Proficiency in IT skills
Ability to read and write Mandarin
2 years experience in administration, clerical or retail
Good working attitude and organizational skills will be of advantage

Training Venue: Textile and Fashion Industry Training Centre Pte Ltd, 190 Middle Road #19-02 Fortune Centre, Singapore 188979

Training Hours: Mon to Friday (theory) – 9am to 5pm

Course Commencement: 10 Jan to 2 Feb 07 – Class Room Training, 5 – 28 Feb – Practical training

Teaching Format: Lecture, field trips, company attachment, assignments

Recruitment Process:

Screening by WDA & TaFtc
Selection by Company
Signing of contracts
Training starts

Salary:

S$1200 (6 weeks training)
$1100 per mth (first 3 mths probation)
Company’s remuneration package applies after confirmation.

Penalty:

Failure to complete 6 wks of training, trainee to pay $2600 to company.
Failure to complete 3 mths of probation work, trainee to pay $1592 and CPF contribution incurred to company.

Career Progression (depends on Company structure): Assistant Merchandiser -> Merchandiser -> Senior Merchandiser -> Asst Merchandiser Manager -> Merchandiser Manager
