Overview

This course reverses the process of conventional pattern making by manipulating fabrics on the form before drawing the pattern. This specialized course allows individuals to understand how apparel design and paper patterns can be drafted through draping techniques. Conducted in an active, hands-on approach, student will learn the techniques necessary for design development and developing 3D patterns.

Objectives
  • Prepare fabric and body form for draping in accordance with draping procedures.
  • Develop basic silhouettes of skirts, blouses, bodices, and, collars on body form through draping techniques and principles such as grain, ease, balance, and line.
  • Analyse style, balance, and proportion using draping techniques and principles.
  • Create markings on fabrics of the apparel pattern on a body form for the selected styles.
  • Transfer the apparel pattern onto paper for the selected styles.
  • Adjust markings to create precise paper patterns.

Admissions

To enrol, you must fulfil the following requirements

Aged 16 years and above

 and 2

Course fee funding eligibility : SCs and PRs (Self-sponsored individuals must be at least 21 years old)

 and 3

Possess at least 3 GCE ‘O’ Level credits with a minimum of C6 including English and Mathematics OR ES WSQ Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) level 5 and above OR WSQ Advanced Certificate in Fashion Technology OR TaF.tc's Advanced Certificate

 and 4

ALL Students are required to have basic knowledge of computer and Microsoft Office

Graduation

To graduate, you must fulfil the following requirements

1

75% attendance rate of total training hours per module

 and 2

Be found competent during written, practical and oral assessments

International Students

To enrol, you must fulfil the following requirements

1

Aged 16 years and above

 and 2

High School Diploma equivalent to GCE ‘O’ Level with 3 credits including English and Mathematics OR Qualifications from professional institutes may be considered on a case-by-case basic OR Pass TaF.tc Entrance Test

 and 3

English Language Requirement – Possess a minimum credit in English at GCE ‘O’ Level or its equivalent OR IELTS score 5.5 or TOEFL score 46

 and 4

ALL Students are required to have basic knowledge of computer and Microsoft Office

Graduation

75% attendance rate of total training hours per module. Student Pass Holders – a minimum of 90% attendance per month will be required

Yes! You can use any SkillsFuture Credits you have to pay for course fees.

We do not offer any make-up or replacement classes.

We highly discourage you from missing any classes since the entire program is designed to be hands-on intensive. There is also a minimum attendance requirement of 75% of training hours for Singaporean and PRs, and 90% of training hours for international students. If you do not meet the 75% attendance requirement, you will not be eligible to enjoy subsidies nor to sit for the assessment. Make sure you block off your time during your training with us or find an intake option that will ensure you do not miss any classes. You will only wish that you had more time in the class!
