Learning Outcomes
  • To enable the participant to learn the craft of sewing shirts with refined workmanship seen in the commercial tailoring business.
  • To equip the participant with the skill of adopting the methodology of unit construction of shirts in accordance with contemporary garment industry practices.
  • To prepare the participant with the foundation knowledge and skill of classic shirt construction in order to jumpstart or enhance the business of menswear.
Certificate Issuance
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be awarded a TaF.tc Certificate in Bespoke Series: Men's Classic Shirt.

Items Required For Class

Before your class begins, we'd like you to make sure that you have the following items so that the class can proceed smoothly.

The following items are compulsory for students to bring:

IMPORTANT NOTE: Fabric/Lining requirements are based on standard medium sizing. Please purchase additional yardage for larger sizes.
  • Fabric for Men's Business Shirt - Cotton Poplin, Egyptian cotton ( 2.5 meters for 45"/114cm width ).
    • We advise you to get fabrics that are not too soft and slippery.
    • Additionally, solid color fabric is highly recommended. Clearly mark which is the face and back of the fabric.
    • If you prefer to get prints, please get prints that are non-directional and can be cut in either direction. For example, if you get a dinosaur print, you must make sure the dinosaurs are looking in all different directions and not just one.
  • 1 spool ( 100m to 250m ) of matching color thread ( 100% Polyester ) - For Men's Business Shirt.
  • 9 to 10 Buttons ( Diameter 10mm ) - For Men's Business Shirt.
  • 1 meter woven Stiff Interlining Plus 1 roll double-sided fusible tape (10-15mm) for Interlining/Interfacing - For Men's Business Shirt.
  • Accessories - Plastic Collar Stiffeners Inserts.

Students are required to bring their Stationery too. The list of stationery has been stated below.

  1. Pen
  2. Correction tape/fluid
  3. 2B Pencil (and sharpener or extra lead depending on the type of pencil used)
  4. Eraser/Rubber
  5. 1-inch paper masking tape
  6. Glue stick
  7. Notebook
  8. Calculator

All students who take TaF.tc's Sewing Courses are required to bring their own Sewing Toolkit and Drafting Paper for class.

Yes! You can use any SkillsFuture Credits you have to pay for course fees.

We do not offer any make-up or replacement classes.

We highly discourage you from missing any classes since the entire program is designed to be hands-on intensive. There is also a minimum attendance requirement of 75% of training hours for Singaporean and PRs, and 90% of training hours for international students. If you do not meet the 75% attendance requirement, you will not be eligible to enjoy subsidies nor to sit for the assessment. Make sure you block off your time during your training with us or find an intake option that will ensure you do not miss any classes. You will only wish that you had more time in the class!
