This advanced tailoring course delves into the intricacies of dressmaking, focusing on the adaptation of basic patterns to create diverse dresses with elaborate designs. Participants will gain expertise in dart manipulation methods, expanding their pattern-making skills and sewing techniques. Through comprehensive modules, students will learn to take accurate body measurements, make fitting adjustments, and master construction processes such as sewing corners, curves, linings, and garment finishing. By the end of this course, participants will have honed their dressmaking skills and gained the confidence to create beautifully tailored dresses that meet both industry standards and individual preferences.

Before your class begins, we'd like you to make sure that you have the following items so that the class can proceed smoothly.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Fabric/Lining requirements are based on standard medium sizing. Please purchase additional yardage for larger sizes.Students are required to bring their Stationery too. List of stationery has been stated below.
Sewing Toolkit and Drafting Paper
All students who take TaF.tc's Sewing Courses are required to bring their own Sewing Toolkit and Drafting Paper for class.
Cotton poplin for the main dress, calico for the toile and synthetic fiber-based fabrics like acetate, polyester and viscose for the lining. We also recommend to use these materials and not to buy something too heavy or thick. Otherwise, you will have problems during the sewing process. No denim or stretchable materials.
We highly discourage you from missing any classes since the entire program is designed to be hands-on intensive. There is also a minimum attendance requirement of 75% of training hours for Singaporean and PRs, and 90% of training hours for international students. If you do not meet the 75% attendance requirement, you will not be eligible to enjoy subsidies nor to sit for the assessment. Make sure you block off your time during your training with us or find an intake option that will ensure you do not miss any classes. You will only wish that you had more time in the class!
Yes! You can use any SkillsFuture Credits you have to pay for course fees.
We do not offer any make-up or replacement classes.
